John: 4 #UnqualifiedDaily

Are you hurting and broken within?

Overwhelmed by the weight of your sin?

Jesus is calling.

Have you come to the edge of yourself?

Do you thirst for a drink from the well?

Jesus is calling.

Bring your sorrows and trade them for joy.

From the ashes a new life is born.

Jesus is calling.

I couldn't help but relate this tune to John:4. Funny thing is that it has been stuck in my head all week - even before I read this passage. I read John:4 over coffee, attempted to write my initial take... the words weren't flowing. So I prayed for the Holy Spirit to give me the words... because it's really not about what "I" have to say anyway. Then, Renna maxed out her morning playtime and it was time to put her down to a nap.

As I rocked her to sleep I began to hum the tune that had been stuck in my head all week. As I sang this tune softly to Renna, I started to realized how it so eloquently summed up all that my scatter brain was trying to process. You may call it a coincidence, but I chalk it up to God.

So I encourage you to just take a moment to slow down. Listen to this song. Soak in the lyrics like a prayer. For we can all feel overwhelmed. We can all feel limited by time, limited by energy, and limited by guilt. We all have relationships in our lives that have a conflict that divides us.

The endless planning, the endless thirsting, the restlessness - yet a great need for rest plagues us all.

So today I am going to hum that tune anytime I feel limited, or strained, or divided, or overwhelmed. He knows all of our needs before we even lay them at his feet. He is not limited in the ways we are. So let's place us limits in the hands of the limitless, give what you can to this day, leave the burden aside, and put this song on repeat.
